WELCOME HOMES AT ARIANA HOUSE
Resettlement agencies, including Salem For Refugees and Catholic Charities, the Oregon Department of Human Services, the Salem-Keizer School District, and local nonprofits refer refugee and asylum-seeking families to Ariana House.
Families live in the Welcome Homes at Ariana House for up to one year. During that time, we assist them with enrollment in Oregon Health Plan and other benefits for which they may be eligible. We also connect them with Headstart preschool, schools and ESL classes, and other community resources. Finally, we provide assistance with legal paperwork.
Mostly, we provide a safe and caring home and a steady environment in which families can find themselves again.
Gloria and her daughter, Marisol, arrived at Ariana House in 2018. In the year that they lived with us, they applied for asylum, received their Employment Authorization, and Marisol graduated from high school. In 2019, Gloria’s husband was able to join them. Currently, they live on their own, are all employed, and have received asylum! Marisol will graduate from Western Oregon University with her BA in Psychology this June.
Since 2015, we have welcomed and assisted families and individuals from Iraq, Iran, Somalia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, Somalia, Honduras, Burundi, Haiti, Colombia, Venezuela, El Salvador, Guinea, Namibia, Kenya, the Republic of Congo, and Guatemala.
